Tivat Airport Reviews
Did you know that Tivat Airport is operational only during the daytime due its presence in Montenegro’s mountainous terrain? This is because the taking off and landing of planes on such features can be dangerous, so the airport is only open by day.
International Tivat Airport is more famous for being Montenegro’s largest airport that serves the Montenegrin coastal town of Tivat and its surrounding area. It is the country’s busiest air facility, where 80% of its yearly passenger volume is handled between June to August, its peak season, as Montenegro’s tourism industry’s distinctly seasonal.
Our Tivat Airport reviews provide you with further details about how the airport operates:
Reviews – What People Are Saying
Tivat Airport reviews gave the airport a 3.5/5 rating on Google reviews. Even if most of the recent Tivat Airport reviews were negative, some people call it a “small but nice” facility; however, others complain about the slow disorganised staff, with its so limited facilities and information that their stays weren’t comfortable.
Tivat Airport is an international airport with a single terminal that has two shops and a cafe. Another cafe is located at the other side of the airport’s parking lot. Tivat Airport reviews recommend the latter as the airport’s in house cafe’s prices can be steep. The Tabacco Shop offers newspapers and magazines, snacks, toys, perfumes, and cosmetics, whereas a Duty Free is located airside offering goods and gift ideas.
The Fly Montenegro VIP Lounge, which is located airside, is open for 24 hours; and, economy class passengers can gain lounge access either by purchasing a pass or via a membership program. There are ATMs and baby care rooms found inside, as well.
However, according to Tivat Airport reviews, “Airport procedures, such as check-in, security checkpoints or boarding, can be disorganized and inefficient.” This was one of the most notable complaints of travellers. On the other hand, free wifi is available within.
Tivat Airport is located near the city of Tivat, where it lies 3 km south of the its center; the airport’s runway is aligned with the Tivat Field. Furthermore, Tivat Airport lies 7 km from the center of Kotor and is 19 km northwest of popular tourist destination Budva.
Some landmarks nearby you may pass en route to Tivat Airport are Kotor’s Castle Of San Giovanni, Kotor’s Castle Of San Giovanni, St. Tryphon Cathedral, and Lovcen National Park.
Location – Traffic – Service
Tivat Airport serves as the hub for Montenegro Airlines, and is served by a number of regular and low-cost airlines that fly direct and connecting flights to all points of the globe. Along with the busy summer season, the airport operates scheduled flights to Belgrade, Moscow, and Kiev all throughout the year, and offers charters as well.
Tivat Airport has a single asphalt runway – that ends 88 m from the coastline of the Bay of Kotor – that as of 2015, had accommodated 895,033 passengers.
News and Awards
The airport made it to the news with their 2016 and late 2015 construction, respectively, of a new terminal and a new control tower. The €40 million expansion project includes the construction of a new terminal building, jetways, apron, and a parking lot.
In fact, Tivat Airport had served more than ten times the number of passengers accommodated in June 2016 compared to January 2016.

I suggest that Tivat Airport add customer-friendliness to their list of future developments; people don’t necessarily enjoy their stay at this airport, and there is virtually no room for leisure considering its size and surprising inefficiency. Perhaps coming with their expansion, they expand their dining and shopping choices too.
