Air Ceylon was established in 1947, and SriLankan Airlines commenced on September 1, 1979 with their company slogan inviting with the words, ‘You’re Our World.” At the time of their replacement of Air Ceylon, this airline was called Air Lanka, which was later rebranded to SriLankan Airlines when it was partially acquired by Emirates in 1998.

Special services await Economy Class passengers who can treat themselves with more than 100 movies, silent movies or a selection of video games throughout the flight. In fact, in this cabin class, dining is refreshed every 45 minutes to counter the dehydrating effects of long-haul flying.
