The CEO of Air Iceland since his May 2008 appointment has been Mr. Birkir Hólm Guðnason who was born on May 6, 1974 in Iceland. Hailing from Akureyri, Iceland, Guðnason studied with a Bsc. degree in Economics and Business Administration and an MBA in International Business and Economics both from Aalborg University, Denmark. After graduating, he worked for Icelandair, and then at North America, thereafter taking up General Manager roles in some European stations.

Air Iceland’s main bases are located at their hub Reykjavík Airport and focus city, Akureyri Airport. As of May 2016, Air Iceland has a mixed fleet composed of 3 Bombardier Dash 8-200 and 4 Bombardier Q400 aircraft flying to 13 destinations.
